Are dishwashers worth buying in India?
From Covid 19 point of view
It is definitely worth buying in India, especially considering the current epidemic of COVID-19 and how severe it is hitting India, and will continue to do so.
Dish Washers were popular in Western lands in part because of the high cost of labor; the same is cheaper in India. However, the fear of Coronavirus should be enough to see that our family is at risk of infection if someone comes to wash dishes every day. In western countries, the standards for household hygiene are much higher than in India, which puts us at risk of Coronavirus when someone comes to our home and if we are not sure how clean and safe they are, even if you meet an infected person, what other families are visiting.
More than anything else, it will give you complete peace of mind that my family is safe in the current state of COVID-19.
Cons (this time cons and then pros)
The cost of a modest dishwasher is about Rs 40000. The cost of a dishwashing maiden is estimated at Rs 1000. So I can pay a maid for more than 4 years at 40000.
Include those electrical costs and the unavoidable damage / avoidance of the machine. Is it worth it? The space required is also the same as the washing machine. Many Indian kitchens are not good enough.
The prices of dishwashers need to be close to the price of a washing machine (approximately Rs 15000) in order to operate in Indian homes.

Pros (here come the pros)
First, before buying a dishwasher, we need to clear up the basic idea of why we need a dishwasher at home. According to our culture, we usually have a housekeeper / helper come to make our dishes. We do that because it's hard and it works hard for us, so we choose to have someone else do it for us. But the above has its drawbacks. When your maid cleans the dishes, she uses cold water (max 35 C) and uses at least 2-3 buckets of water to wash once.
And since most housewives would agree with me, girls do not always do perfect work. Sometimes there are food stains, grease, or soap left on your dishes, which we need to clean again. Containers are also left to dry the air in a plastic basket, because there are water stains on your dishes, which need to be cleaned with a cloth before using the dishes.
Now, when you buy a dishwasher, you basically want more hygiene, cleanliness, and ease of use than your maid. You need to buy a dishwasher for that. Dishwasher products, available in India, require you to wash your dishes with water once before loading them into the washer. However, that too is a double standard. You need to find a dishwasher that does not require pre-cleaning, and the dishes can be loaded directly from the dining table to the dishwasher. Also, the dishwasher should have a good jet spray system (3 sprinkles recommended) for proper washing. The placement of the items works and plays an important role in your dishwashing experience.
Very few niche brands, such as Miele, offer you the above features and ease of use of dishwasher before loading the dishwasher. Until now, there was still a need to clean the dishes first, so there was a preconceived notion in India that the dishwasher was less effective, as the ladies were getting a “double-mehnat”. But now times are changing. With the development of new technologies, the process of washing dishes has become simpler and more clean.
