Top 5 water purifiers in India (October 2021)

Questions that will be resolved through this article...

Are you finding a water purifier? It is simple. Buy an RO and the water will be converted to mineral water. But is it right to drink Mineral water? Leave all this. Buy RO, UV, UF or MF and get clean water. But would that water be clean? If you get to listen to these things, then you are both confused and misguided.
But not anymore. I promise you that you will be able to buy the correct purifier and drink safe water. Hello friends, my name is Vineet and today I'll tell you about the best water purifier of 2021 in the RO and UF category. Not only will I give the list of best water purifiers, but also if you read this article completely then you will be capable of selecting the best one for you. If not, then you can buy anyone from the links given below.
But I'll recommend you to read the article so that you could know about the market gimmick and how brands mislead people.

The Water Purifiers that are mentioned in the article are:
The prices of all the water purifiers are given below.

First let’s understand these terms- RO, UV, UF, MF so that when I tell you about water purifiers, then you know which is RO or UV:

RO is a good filter technology but for 1L pure water, it wastes 3L water. Essential minerals like Calcium, Magnesium and Sodium gets eliminated. Therefore it is not a safe technology. You get only a liquid and not water. Buy RO only when you need it, which I'll tell you later.

After that comes UV filters that kills germs, dirt and bacteria and neither disturbs the taste or change the colour of the water. They are very cost-effective. Then comes UF filters which eliminate dead germs and bacteria but they cannot eliminate solids or metals. Take care of this fact.

Then comes MF- Micro Filtration System. It removes dust and sand but the solids and metals will not be eliminated.

Then comes the biggest marketing gimmick- TDS Controller. Where ever you find TDS or MTDS is written, remember there is strong marketing going on there. TDS adds impure water to pure water to increase or decrease the TDS levels. I highly recommend you to stay away from purifiers with TDS or MTDS.

I recommend you follow WHO's guidelines and use a good purifier which I'll tell you in this article. If the TDS level of water is 250-300 then you don't need RO. You must buy a purifier with a UF+UV combination. If the TDS level is above 300, then you must buy RO+UV+UF combination, which I'll tell you about in some time.

There will be two categories- RO+UV+UF and UV+UF. UF+UV filter is suitable for TDS levels up to 250 or 300. If a website tells you to use RO for more than 200 TDS, then definitely it is trying to increase the RO sales. Please don't follow them. Till 300 TDS level, use only UF+UV filter. You can choose products according to your water capacity and your budget.

UV+UF category

 Aquaguard Aura Water Purifier

It comes with a 7L capacity. It has UF+UV purification which is suitable for 250-300 TDS level water. It works with 6 stages of purification. It has Active Copper Technology with the copper cartridge that releases copper ions. Aquaguard claims e-Boiling technology, but it is just a marketing gimmick. You get a UV filter and that's it.
According to the company you get Mineral Guard Technology, which I don't understand because how can calcium and magnesium be added to water through a filter? All in all, this is a good filter with 1 year of warranty and service, which is normal. It costs INR 12,000.
Now let's talk about its pros and cons because no product is perfect.

There are 2 major problems-
  • Some people faced the leakage problem whereas some faced delays in installation. These are not big cons and are ignorable but the taste after purification is very good.
UF purifier does not drastically decrease the TDS levels. It just removes metals and dust and this is what is required if the TDS level is 300. I totally recommend this UF+UV purifier under INR 12,000.

A.O Smith Z1

It has a 10L water storage capacity. It has UF+UV purification which is suitable for 250-300 TDS level water. The best thing is its large storage capacity which is best suitable for a family with 5 to 7 members. It works with 5 stages of purification with digital display. It has a pre-filter as well as a sediment filter. Along with a UV lamp, you get Silver activated post carbon filtration, which is something technical but good. Along with cold water, you can take 45 degrees to 80 degrees hot water too.
There are two outlet pipes- one for hot water and the other for cold water, and this is one of the coolest features. A.O Smith claims that it can handle TDS levels up to 350 and can purify water. Did you see the difference? Some brands claim that UV+UF purifier can decontaminate water with TDS levels up to 300 whereas some claim that this filter is suitable only for TDS up to 200. That is why I told you that the UF+UV filter is best for TDS up to 250-300.  It costs INR 13,000 and this is one of the best water purifiers with the facility of hot and cold water. Links are given in the description box.

Now let’s talk about its cons.
  • Many people have complained about its poor customer service. But in metro cities, its service network is good. Make sure you check its service network before buying it.

RO water purifiers

They are suitable for TDS levels between 300 to 2000. If the TDS level is less than 300 then UV+UF is the best choice. If the TDS level is greater than 2000, then do not buy RO. In this case, you need a water softener purifier and for that, you need to consult an expert. Now all the three purifiers I’ll tell are the best. You can choose any one as per the water capacity and your budget.

Livpure LIV PEP PRO PLUS

It has a 7L water storage capacity. It comes with a Multi-stage purification system and RO+UV+UF and tastes enhancer technology. High-grade ABS has been used in it to stop leakage, which is very good. Livpure claims that this purifier will clean TDS levels up to 2000. It has a pre-activated carbon filter and an absorber. Along with UV disinfection, silver ions are used once water passes through the carbon filter. Livpure claims a mineralizer but I’ll recommend you not pay attention to it. Livpure gives a 1-year warranty, which is normal. Let’s talk about its cons.
  • This purifier has a LED light indicator, which according to some users stopped working in a few days only and they had to work a lot to change it.

If we talk about its pros:
  • Livpure claims that the water wastage is very less in this purifier. Like I told you before, for 1L of pure water, 3L of water is wasted. But this purifier wastes less water, according to some users. This is a wonderful pro. We have to conserve water.
It costs INR 8500. This is the best value for money RO purifier.

Kent Ace

It has an 8L water storage capacity. It has advanced 7 stage purification with RO+UV+UF. According to Kent, this purifier purifies the water in multiple stages. Its capacity of 8L is slightly higher than the normal 7L capacity. Kent claims mineral RO technology, but do not concentrate on it. Another good thing is that the UV disinfectant is located inside the tank only. Kent gives a 1-year warranty and service.
Let’s talk about its cons:
  • The installation is a mess, acc to many users. Its installation varies from city to city but many people have faced a lot of problems with it. Make sure you check its service network before buying it.

It costs INR 11,500 which is slightly higher as per 8L capacity. The purifier water is sweet and tastes good. It controls the TDS efficiently. Don’t forget to check Kent’s backup before buying

HUL Pureit Eco Water Purifier

It has a 10L water storage capacity. It has advanced 7 stage purification with RO+UV+MF. Access to Hindustan Unilever this purifier purifies the water with TDS level up to 2000ppm. Access to them is suitable for borewells, tanks or tap water. It has an advanced alert system that will indicate when you will be required to change the filter. The good pro of this water purifier is its 10L large tank.  HUL gives a 1-year warranty.
Let’s talk about its cons.
  • Access to many users this purifier leaks. Maybe in some products, it might be a manufacturing defect.

This is one of the best water purifiers the purified water tastes very good, it controls TDS efficiently and the water wastage is less as compared to other water purifiers. Its huge cost of INR 14,000 is justified because of its large tank. For a family of more than 5 members, this 10L water purifier is the best. Extra clean water is merely a liquid.

Choose a good purifier according to the TDS level of water at your home. If you liked this article then do tell me in the comment section. If you have any questions, then ask me in the comment section. I’ll try to answer them as soon as possible.
